Description Image of former First Lady Betty Ford, the widow of former President Gerald R. Ford, is escorted by U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Guy C. Swan III during the arrival ceremony at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church in Palm Desert, California, December 29th 2006. Swan is the commander of the military forces supporting the State Funeral, which are helping to honor Ford, the 38th president of the United States, who passed away on December 26th 2006. Following services in California, Ford's remains will be flown to Washington, D.C., for a state funeral in the Capitol Rotunda and a funeral service at the Washington National Cathedral, followed by burial services in Michigan.
