This 1975 photo shows a Marburg virus patient (case #2) in an isolation room in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Because this virus is often spread within close contact between humans, Dr. M. Isaacson, like all of the attendants, is fully garbed, including goggles, boots, double gloves and gown. Droplets of body fluids, or direct contact with patients, equipment, or other objects contaminated with infectious blood or tissues, are all highly suspect as sources of viral pathogens.
