Description: Picture of a 22 month old child presented after having autoinoculated his lips and cheek 9 days post-vaccination. Autoinoculation involves the spread of the vaccinia virus to another part of the vaccinee’s body, except the eyes, caused by touching the vaccination site and then touching another part of the body. It is usually mild in its severity. This image was recieved in 08/2003 and provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention/Allen W.
