Picture of a lymph node impression smear reveals B. anthracis on the left, with normal, non-infected tissue on the right. B. anthracis fluorescent antibody stain reveals the rod-shaped bacilli on the left amongst the cellular debris, while on the right the non-infected tissue demonstrates normal globulin content. This image was created in 1966 and provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention/Sidney J. Benesky .
