This photo was taken during a lab safety study, shows a safety shower outside a CDC laboratory.

The safety shower is a National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) requirement, providing easy access to a ready water supply so one can wash away corrosive, or caustic chemicals accidentally spilt during laboratory experiments.

This image was created in 1980 and provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention/Dr. William Wagner.
