Description Picture of glass microscope slide specimens were used by Dr. Joseph W. Mountin who was integral in the CDC organization’s inception. After WWII, Dr. Mountin was directly responsible for the redesign of the Office of Malaria Control in War Areas (MCWA) into the Communicable Disease Center, which became an institution synonymous around the world with excellence in public health practice. This artifact can be seen at the Global Health Odyssey. This image was created in 2004 and provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention/Global Health Odyssey, Judy Gantt, Mary Hilpertshauser/James Gathany.
