Description In this 1994 picture, a CDC, Special Pathogens Branch scientist is performing an ELISA test on suspected hantavirus samples. The CDC uses the Enzyme-Linked ImmunoSorbent Assay, or ELISA test, which uses an immunoreactive antigen, and an immunoabsorbent antigen in order to detect IgM antibodies to SNV, and to diagnose acute infections with other hantaviruses. This image was created in 1994 and provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
